According to U-Multirank’s latest data some 60% of universities reported online learning provisions in their strategic planning prior to COVID-19, while only one third appeared to provide full online courses in some form.
The capacity of universities to replace the provision of traditional on-campus ‘face-to face’ educational programmes with online provision has proved to be a key strategic response to COVID-19.

Following extensive discussions, the Local Organising Committee (LOC) and the CHER board have decided to postpone CHER 2020 jointly organised by the University of Rijeka and NUI Galway, and transfer one into the upcoming year of 2021. This was an extremely difficult decision to make but is a necessary one in the light of the enormous challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic. Our primary consideration when making this decision was the health and wellbeing of conference participants and we feel collectively that this is the only possible position to adopt.
